Okay, I am going to start with a video of Adam's performance, and then we shall discuss. Sound good? Good.
Here is Adam Lambert closing the American Music Awards with his debut single, "For Your Entertainment".
With the way that this performance was being hyped, I was expected to be blown away. All I really felt after the performance ended was "eh".
Maybe I am just desensitized by the media, but none of what Adam did during his performance shocked me. Well, his stumble into the fire drill tuck and roll, kind of shocked me, but he played it off nicely.
Also, the lyric ABC chose to bleep was sort of random, "Give it to ya ’til your screaming my name".
I get that it was just past safe harbor hours in FCC land, but I think that lyric was tame enough to not be bleeped.
From the various things done on stage with dancers touching and grabbing, I felt like it was expected. Even the kiss, not shocked.
My biggest issue with Adam's performance was his voice. If you have been following my blog since Idol, you know that while he was on the show, I was not a fan of his at all, all to do with the crazy, screechy notes he tended to hit on the regular. My ears were just like "do not want".
I felt that after seeing Adam over the summer on the Idol tour, it was like he was able to hit those notes without sounding like nails on a chalkboard. In fact, I thought he sounded amazing, and he could still move around, dance and stay on pitch.
For me, vocal-wise, Adam's performance last night was an absolute hot mess. I have listened to it closely from start to finish, and even that first big note in the beginning was just not the business at all.
Is any of this going to affect his album sales this week? Probably not. I don't doubt that his record will probably land in the top spots on the charts next week.
Plus, with the publicity he is getting from this performance, the good, the bad and the ugly, he has people talking. You can't buy that kind of publicity.
Personally, I wish he would have left the dancing to the dancers and let his voice be the standout. It would have made his performance all that much better. I get that he's Adam Lambert, the best thing since sliced bread, but I come from the school of less is more, and the AMA's is where his voice should have been able to shine.
That's all.

Adam Lambert Is Here For Your Entertainment
I feel like I have so much to cover with Adam. He's got a lot of stuff going on lately.
Let's start with the album cover...

My reaction: o_O
Seriously.
But, then I got over the cover, when his single, "For Your Entertainment" of his album of the same name debuted last Friday.
Fantastic, right?
Well, it gets even better, because clips from his album leaked this week, and for not being an early adopter Adam fan, I have to say that I am very excited for his album. It's 80's dance/pop with power ballads. I cannot wait!
You know that you're excited, too!
November 24, 2009, I think we're all in for one heck of a storm brought to us by none other than Adam Lambert!

Maroon 5 Debuts New Song on College Tour
Maroon 5 has just kicked off their Fall college tour, and no I am not bitter at all about them not playing any California tour dates at all. Not bitter at all.
Anyways, they debuted a new song called, "Last Chance" and it's awesome.
Take a listen!
And can I just say how much I am enjoying the understated tour. That's the Maroon 5 I know and love.
And for bonus, they also covered Alicia Keys' "If I Ain't Got You".
You know you love it.
I do!
